Halloween
Kindergarten Halloween Planning
Children change into their costumes at a time specified by the teacher, then parade around the school. Parents are welcome to come watch the parade! The classroom Halloween Parties follow the parade, and feature treats and games. Only Room Parents are present at the party. See Room Parent Guidelines.
12:30 - four room parents are able to sign up to assist the kids with putting on their costumes
1:00 - parade will be outside if weather permits; otherwise an alternate plan will be made
Room parents plan an in-classroom party to follow the parade. This party will consist of age-appropriate activities (crafts, games, etc...)
Food: Room parents provide a snack and/or treat. ***PLEASE BE AWARE OF ANY FOOD ALLERGIES OR DIETARY RESTRICTIONS IN YOUR CLASS*** In order to keep our children healthy, we recommend one salty snack item, one sweet dessert item, and one healthy item. Please check with the classroom teacher for specific needs.
Be sure to touch base with your homeroom teacher on specific timing of activities and approval of your party plan.
If a classroom does not have four Room Parents assigned to this party, others may be called on to assist. If Halloween falls on a Wednesday, early dismissal may affect party times!
PreK Halloween Planning
For AM students, the assigned Halloween party parent volunteers will help children change into their costumes. Students must be able to maneuver the classrooms so all costumes must be safe, without any long or obstructing pieces. No facial masks or weapons allowed.
The AM preschoolers might parade through kindergarten classes (since the kindergarten parade is in the afternoon.) Please discuss with your teacher their plans for the morning preschool mini parade. The preschool Halloween party is planned by the room parents, lasts about 45 minutes and includes a treat and games/craft. Only room parents are present.

Around 1:00 pm, each classroom (Kindergarten and PM preschool) will parade around the school perimeter, weather permitting. There will be many families lined up around school to see all the kids in their costumes!
The PM preschool Halloween party begins after the parade (approximately 1:20 pm.) The preschool Halloween party is planned by the room parents, lasts about 45 minutes and includes a treat and games/craft. Only room parents are present.

Policies for Parents
This is the communication sent out by the Principal in the weekly eNews during the few weeks leading up to Halloween. It is provided here so that Room Parents know what will be communicated by the school to parents.
Halloween is quickly approaching! I want to provide some information regarding our policies in order to help you with the purchase of costumes and treats.
We want our students to be safe, especially during our Parade, which starts at 1:00. Please be sure that a mask does not obstruct your child’s view and that costumes are not too long or difficult to manage staircases. We do not allow any weapons or gory costumes. If any part of a costume is deemed inappropriate or unsafe, the teacher will keep it in her possession until the end of the day.
Room Parents will be supplying the food for the parties, which will immediately follow the Parade. All food will be discussed with the classroom teacher to ensure awareness of food allergies. Please DO NOT send in any treats, edible or non-edible, unless a Room Parent requests it. Although we appreciate the desire to share and celebrate, we want to keep the students healthy and safe, so any unexpected treats will be returned home.
Room Parents will arrive at 12:30 to help students change into costumes. All other parents are welcome to arrive around 12:50 to find a spot outside the building in order to view our Parade. We will circle around the entire building so you will be able to stand anywhere. Please leave a path on the sidewalk for the students.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the parade. We wish everyone a Happy Halloween!
